The Late Fr Barry George Hall SSC

The funeral took place at All Saints' Church on 27 July 2023 of Fr Barry Hall, Honorary Assistant Priest at All Saints’ Church in Stock.
Mourners included many members of the clergy for the service conducted by Fr Mark North, Vicar of St Thomas of Canterbury In Brentwood.
Mr Barry Hall arrived at All Saints’ early in the 1970s. He was a Lay Reader and was quickly assimilated as an active member of the team, preaching at the Mass and taking Evensong.
He was ordained priest in 1982 and was a solicitor for the Church Commissioners Synod Dept from 1966 – 1988.
He continued in his role at All Saints’ until 1990 when he moved to West Hanningfield. In 2002 he returned to All Saints’ as an assistant priest and celebrated the Wednesday Mass until early in 2023 when his health failed. A High Mass was held on 3 July 2007 to celebrate the 25-year anniversary of his ordination.
He wrote numerous words to well-known hymn tunes and was a Director of the Society of the Faith till October 2020.
Fr Barry leaves a widow, Frances, and a grown-up son and daughter. Our prayers are with them.
